A busy week!

Well done pupils of Holly on working hard this week. Lots of Dojos have been awarded. Thanks to the parents who have signed up to view your children's achievements. Mrs field and I have each listened to every child read this week. I have 5 more to listen to Monday. Please make sure that your child brings their reading book into school EVERY DAY. I will send them home every evening to allow more time for reading at home. If you're on Dojo, please let me know if they deserve a dojo award for working independently at home, reading at home, showing respect etc.

Reading: please remember that it is very important for all pupils to understand the texts that they read. Please ask them questions about the story (see poster). Also pupils need to read with fluency, adding expression and using punctuation accurately to pause, stop, emphasise etc. Mrs field and I will listen to every child read their group reading books once a week. Pupils can write in their reading diaries as well as yourselves. It's another great form of communication and I can reward home reading in class.

Spelling: we're in the processof compiling personal spelling lists for the pupils which you will receive soon. Pupils are taught a spelling rule every week and will practise 10 of their personal spellings daily.

I've sent maths homework home with your child/ children. We've been working on bonds to 100 and all pupils need practise to become more confident. Please ask them to complete at least half of the questions before Wednesday. Thanks!
I'll be asking Mrs Vukashin to help me set up online learning for maths next week which will cut down on paper use. You will receive a password to access online homework.

For now, Here are some online games to help them improve their confidence.
