You may have heard them talk about VIP (very independent person)? This is what they are training to be. When completing tasks, I move around the class to support them, and when pupils think they have finished they check the work for themselves using our success criteria and assess it. They then place their work in a colour coded tray to illustrate their understanding of the task. After that, they can pick up a VIP pass and select one of the independent tasks in the class which are designed to develop the skills we are working on this half term. They've had a go of this process in the last two days and seem to enjoy it very much. This is designed to prepare them for years 5 and 6 where greater independence and thinking is required.
You've received 3 letters this weekend. One explaining about our trip which is on Tuesday. Please may we have all remaining slips and money in on Monday, diolch!
Just in case the letter didn't make it home to you, their homework is to choose a book they love and get ready to talk to their friends about it in school. Please could they bring the book with them.
Please could you make sure that your child has a drink of water for themselves every day, thanks!
Another letter was regarding 'Class dojo.' This is a reward system that we use in class and pupils love it! All rewards and sanctions follow our class rules that we made together on Thursday. We agreed and signed them as a team. If you provide me with your email, you will be able to monitor how well your child is doing and you'll also be able to communicate with me which is useful. Let's give it a go!
